Molten Chocolate Cake (Yum!)
Ingredients
- 7 1/2 ounces imported bittersweet chocolate (preferably El Rey or Valrhona), coarsely chopped
- 11 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut in large pieces
- 3 large eggs
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons white granulated sugar
- 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour, sifted
Directions
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
Butter and flour six 6-ounce custard cups.
Place 5 1/2 ounces of the chocolate and the butter in a metal bowl,
and set it over a pan of simmering water. Stir until melted and
smooth. Cool slightly.
Using a standard electric mixer with the whisk attachment, beat the eggs, yolks and sugar at medium-high speed until they are pale and thick, about 10 minutes.
Reduce the speed, and gradually mix in the flour.
Add the chocolate mixture to the flour mixture, and continue to beat until thick and glossy, about 5 minutes.
Divide half of the mixture among the prepared custard cups. Divide the remaining 2 ounces of coarsely chopped chocolate
among them, placing the chunks in the very center of the chocolate
mixture (there should be about 1 tablespoon of chopped chocolate per custard cup). Then top with the rest of the chocolate batter.
Bake until the cake is set around the edges but the center jiggles
slightly when the cup is moved, about 12 minutes. Cool slightly (no
more than 5 minutes).
Run a sharp knife around the edges of the cups. Turn the cakes out onto plates, and serve.

A Week in Disney Songs
We've got Disney songs
galore running through the house. I thought I'd use them to tell our
week.
Circle of Life... we're busy. Again. No surprise
there.
The Work Song... because that's what we
do.
Poor Unfortunate Souls... I wasn't because I
didn't go to yet another band concert. Though I did have loads of homework.
And was sick.
A Spoonful of Sugar... to make the medicine go
down.
The Bare Necessities... food, even if it's lamb biryani, which stunk up the
house and which dad made fun of my mom for getting sick from the smell.
Cruella DeVille... not quite, but my mom's boss was a bit,
um, persnickety this week.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious... because if you say it loud enough,
you'll always sound precocious.
Hakuna Matata... what a wonderful phrase. My mom didn't have yoga this
week. We found her saying "Let it Go" a lot. Hakuna Matata would have
been better.
A Friend Like Me... I had friends for a
sleepover
Happy, Happy Birthday to You... because it was my birthday party, and because Alison Insisted that she Could Not not bug
the Big Girls without Someone to Sleep Over for her, too. Which made Kristen
Upset because she's Little.
You've Got a Friend in Me... thankfully, Kristen has a friend who invited
her over on Saturday, so they could go on a Picnic. Which was Wonderful.
Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo... and all is better. No fairy godmothers
required.
Be Our Guest... Dad went to the Republican caucuses yesterday, not to
vote, but to go with some students to observe. Then he was on TV this morning.
It must be an election year.
The Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down... thankfully, we got the garden
prepped for some spinach and potatoes (Megan wants to be in charge of planting
those) before it rained today.
Stay Awake... which we're trying to do. Hate when the stinking time
changes. Pick one, already.
Jolly Holiday... next week, when Spring Break starts.
When I See an Elephant Fly... because that's a good way to end.

Blackout
BLACKOUT TIME GET YOUR FLASHLIGHT!
So
last night starting around 8:15 the lights started flickering and then
at 8:20 THEY WENT OUT!!!!!! My mom and dad were both gone so all of us
kids had to sit in the ark. Thankfully we have 4 flashlights and TONS of
candles or else we would of have to sit there in the dark. My mom came
home at about 8:30 because Megan called her. I had to finish my homework
by candlelight (ooooOOOooo) and we eventually figured out that
the wind had blown out the cable on our street that powered the fist 5
houses! So we were one of the few unlucky ones!!! We ended up having to
put the little girls to bed in with a candle in their room and I was
going to sleep on Megan's floor because I didn't want to sleep
downstairs alone in the pitch black. So I was going to bed at the same
time as Megan (9:00) but then around 9:20 the power came back on! So I
got to sleep downstairs in my room. But by the time my dad got home
(10ish) the power was back on so he didn't know!! My mom told him
everything and now we have an adventure to tell!

So Close
I'm so close! SO CLOSE!!! I was so happy this morning -- then we went to
church. At church-- I handed out bullitens even though I'm not 12
(yet). Rating: 4/10 on the terrible factor-It got this because it was SO
boring.
We had to teach our substitute teacher the lesson-- Rating: 5/10 -- she was clueless and didn't teach us anything we didn't already know.
Finally--- In primary we were playing one of those "pass the object" games, when I got it Kristen yells "CAKEKIN GOT IT!!" Then Alison said "Cakekin got it." Then behind me I heard a boy who always been annoying say " Yeah Kake-Land got it." Rating: 20/10
I understand the fact that Kristen can't say my name right even though she's five. I'm teaching her that I hate it when she calls me that. But Alison can say my name right deliberately saying my name like that and laughing after word. But now because of them that boy now calls me Kake-Land.
I'm so ready to leave primary. I won't have to deal with him (for about 5 months), Alison or Kristen! I'm also so excited for my BIRTHDAY!! (In case you haven't noticed.) I'm going to get my book and my ears pierced!!! I can't wait because on the 9th-10th I'm having a sleep over/birthday party with 3 of my friends; we're going to Color Me Mind!!!
My week wasn't that terrible it was just today. Hope your week was fine.
